2024 Feb 19 | Super Bowl, Ogii's relative visiting us
The Super Bowl is in Las Vegas, which isn't too far away. I wonder if we could get some cheap tickets? Oh, the lowest is $8,000, so nope.
We went to Deja Blue in Seaside to watch the game.
We got there around 1pm, and there were only a few other people there, but they filled up over the next few hours.
Lots of Taylor Swift, even before the game.
More.
More.
More.
DJ Tiesto was supposed to be the first in-game DJ, but he pulled out due to a family emergency, so DJ Kaskade replaced him.
Ogii with her Super Bowl Corona.
They had lots of food.
Chili.
Hot dogs.
We grabbed a little of everything.
Time to eat.
Gronk missed his live field goal for the commercial again.
Best Taylor Swift moment: her chugging a beer.
The owner of the place, Darryl Choates, announcing a raffle.
He seems like a great guy.
Very invested in the local community, opening local businesses and serving on the city council.
Our raffle tickets.
The halftime show featured Usher...
... Alicia Keys...
...Lil Jon, who was hanging out in the crowd...
... and Ludacris, bringing back all of the "Yeah!" singers from 2004.
When Usher took his shirt off...
... the owner of the place almost did, too. He was really fun.
Temu, the cheap Chinese import website, had multiple commercials.
Obviously, almost everyone was rooting for San Francisco. But when the Chiefs scored...
... the owner would celebrate, just to rile everyone up.
Good effort.
T-Mobile commercial featuring two Scrubs actors and Jason Momoa.
Tied with only 2 minutes to go.
San Francisco scored, but now Kansas City has a chance to tie it in the last few seconds.
And they do!
Overtime, very exciting. The new rules are much fairer than the ones they had previously.
Donald Trump trying to take credit for Taylor Swift's success.
Some amazing plays.
And Kansas City wins it. Great back-and-forth game after San Francisco was up 10-0 in the second quarter after a scoreless first quarter.
Celebrating.
Another Temu commercial.
Ogii with her parting gift they gave out to all of the women.
Ogii's relative came to visit.
They went to the aquarium.
In front of some birds.
Is that a shark?
Water cascading down.
At Lover's Point.
The Lone Cypress.
Ocean Street in Carmel.
Then they drove up to San Francisco. Driving down Lombard Street.
At the bottom.
With Coit Tower and the Bay Bridge in the background.
Pier 39.
With sea lions.
At the Golden Gate Bridge.
With the city behind.
The next day, we went to Odanata Wines.
This is one of our favorite local wineries.
Getting a pour.
Ready to taste.
In front of barrels.
Many bottles.
Snacks.
Cheers!
Sitting outside.
Drinking.
A double rainbow.
Great bread from the farmer's market.
