2024 Mar 14 | my birthday in Napa, San Francisco Premium Outlets
Bonnie wrote out the notes for "Happy Birthday;" very nice.
Another present for Ogii.
A t-shirt.
I've only seen a few Cybertrucks driving around.
Neat wrap.
Ogii got me a birthday cake.
She put little dinosaur cookies around the bottom.
Blowing out the candles.
More candy.
Fun card.
Birthday breakfast.
Many different presents from many different people.
This chocolate chicken was discounted because the tail was broken off. Good job saving money, honey.
Charging my very old iPod. It still works, but I need to use an adapter because our current chargers all use the newer USB design.
We drive up to Napa and started at the Premium Outlets.
Ogii ready to check out some stores.
The maps.
Kate Spade.
This bag looks like a tennis racket and ball.
Clear bags for concerts.
Simon owns a bunch of outlet malls. This one is in Korea.
Mexico City.
Japan.
Cabazon, California, and more.
The food court wasn't open yet.
The legend of discount colors bothers me. Why isn't 80% at the top? Why are there two colors for 40%?
Not to mention I only see 40% off tags, no 70% or 80%.
Checking out some shoes.
Try to stay in the clearance sections.
I huge line for the car wash.
A lot of ladders.
Neat old car.
Next we went to downtown Napa.
For wine tastings.
Our first stop was John and Michelle Cellars.
Very modern.
Tasting menus.
Some Herman Miller Eames lounge chairs.
I tried it, but it wasn't anything special. Plus it was in the sun and too close to the other people there.
So we sat in the corner.
Our first tasting.
And charcuterie board.
Sniffing.
Second round.
They even have wine Jell-O shots.
We have to try those.
Down they go.
Next stop was Alpha Omega.
Also neat inside.
Very stylish.
Beautiful stained glass.
Their menu.
Ogii swirling.
Another board of food.
Cheers!
Cute little cubby.
Ogii looking for legs.
Their symbol.
About to sell Girl Scout cookies. We had to stop them on their way to buy some.
Very clean wine tasting store.
Next we went to Ace & Vine.
To play some poker.
Open area out back.
Once a week they run a Crazy game.
One crazy thing is that every orbit, a player gets to select which game we play for a bomb pot.
It's usually a double board Omaha game, but it can even be three boards, and you can twist the turn and river, which means that card can play in any board. Which can make it really hard to figure out who won each board, but all the players help out.
They also play the seven-deuce game, so if you win with 72, every player has to pay you a bounty. Here I tried to do that against Ogii by betting every street, but she flopped top two pair and called me down.
Huge pot for me; someone raised, someone else re-raised, then I went all-in with QQ, someone called, and I won.
Another bomb pot.
Ogii flopped a set of fives against AA, they got all-in on the flop, and the guy hit a very lucky A on the turn to win. She lost some, I won more, so combined, we still won money.
Having a steak there.
Then we drove over to another nearby casino: California Grand. It's the oldest continuously operating poker room in the world, with poker games since 1854.
It's bigger and there were more players here.
Although the game was normal, so no 72 game nor crazy bomb pots.
Me winning an all-in.
This time I lost some, Ogii won more, so combined, we won money again.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn.
Cute flower on the toilet paper.
They had a big breakfast.
These rolls look great.
Lots of plugs scattered around.
We had to work there a bit after checking out, but they let us sit in this little nook for a few hours.
Then we headed to the San Francisco Premium Outlets. This is another Simon outlet mall.
Lots of stores here, too.
Saks Off 5th.
Find the 80% off stuff.
Snake rings.
The food court there.
I got Italian and Ogii got Chinese.
This chess set is a decoration, not playable, because one side only has three giant pieces.
Cat sculptures.
Woman shopping lamp.
I love these lamps.
A bit pricy for their size, though.
More clearance.
Tons of cheap clothes here.
A butterfly top.
Another clearance section.
Colorful purses.
Cool sandals by Karl Lagerfeld.
Ogii liked them enough to buy them.
This woman was trying on a ton of shoes.
Chocolate store.
Very neat.
Nice mural.
Red-winged blackbird.
San Francisco near sunset from the east bay.
