2024 Mar 31 | WPT Virgin Voyage - boarding, Meetup pajama poker games
A ton of grafitti on this building.
There are many cruise ships at the Miami port.
Many.
Many.
Many.
Many.
Many cruise ships.
Finally, I see ours.
The front up close.
They should have made the name bigger.
At check-in.
A big "Ahoy" sign.
Us in front of it.
Monica grabbed some lunch from a place nearby while we waited.
There weren't many outlets around, but I did find one to charge for a bit.
Lining up by boarding time.
We're near the front of our line.
A lot of people behind us.
Some of the people look like they don't really know how to play poker. Others, like the guy with this poker tattoo, look like they do.
A lot of the women who played poker had very intricate nails, too.
Vince Van Patten arriving.
Some of the World Poker Tour models.
The line ahead of us is going.
I'm ready.
And we're going. Check in first.
Getting closer.
Up the escalators.
Closer.
We can actually see the ship from this room.
Across the water.
Monica and I are excited, Dad could use a nap already, and Ogii and Mom are making sure they don't fall off.
A greeter with a megaphone.
She liked our hats and we had an extra, so I gave it to her.
Our cabin.
Bathroom.
Desks.
Balcony.
Ogii trying out the hammock.
The room from the balcony.
A tablet with room controls.
Daily schedule.
Back.
Virgin has a Scarlet Night where everyone dresses in red, but we thought we'd wear red every day.
So we brought a lot of red clothing.
Some here.
Some hanging up.
Some hanging over here.
Some in the closet.
And some here as we don't have any more room for it.
Shoes.
Dad, Mom, and Monica's room is right next door.
Another bed comes down from the ceiling.
One of our cabin stewards opening the divider between our balconies. I don't know if I like that; now they can come over easily.
A list of all of the tournaments. There are a lot, although most are above our price range or too late at night.
The TV had a Poker Atlas channel to see if anyone was playing and the wait lists.
The ship even shows up on the Poker Atlas app.
Nobody is playing yet as we're still in port.
The elevators had custom poker quotes.
Looking at Miami from the ship.
Other ships leaving.
The pool.
The galley. Virgin has a bunch of fast restaurants instead of a buffet.
Desserts.
Breads.
There are many cooks making everything fresh.
Burgers.
Diner.
Popsicles and champagne.
Moet is partnered with Virgin.
Noodles.
Sandwiches.
A list of the restaurants.
I got a burger and fries as the first meal.
They also have fruit and such you can grab on they way out.
All of us on our balcony. We taped "Dad" over "Mom" on our birthday cruise shirts.
And taped "Caribbean" over "Hawaii" on the back.
A little tiki party boat below.
A big yacht.
And a pirate ship.
Another elevator poker quote.
Large spiral staircase in the middle of the ship.
The bridge.
Normally the grog walk sells out as so many people want to go on it. I guess everyone on this cruise wants to play poker instead.
A bit of a delay in the poker tournaments as well.
Live music by the pool.
Departing. Those are some huge yachts.
Many people out on a lawn.
The city behind us.
Sunset.
A big net on the back of the ship.
Me laying on it.
A fun seat.
A catsuit we brought that fit Monica.
Dressed up for the pajama party.
There was already a long line.
Monica got some champagne while waiting.
I heard one of the containers which had the computers and poker chips didn't make it on board, so they were scrambling to find it.
A shark outfit.
A popular poker vlogger, Rampage.
Andrew Neeme, another one.
Here come some dealers; that's a good sign.
Set up at a table below us.
After around a two-hour delay, we finally got started.
They had lots of tables set up.
Liu Xuan, a poker pro.
Us. We played for only a bit as we needed to get to sleep.
The Charmer, the ship magician, showing some tricks to people.
Us in front of the Virgin lights.
A tunnel of lights.
Dueling pianos.
It's almost midnight, and there's still a long line to play.
Ogii by some interesting wall art.
A game room.
Videogames inside.
Even more.
Table shuffleboard.
That's pretty good.
Still lots of poker going on. We wanted to hang out until midnight as they were doing a raffle then.
Grabbing some pizza while we wait.
We didn't win the raffle, but we did see this cool poker hat.
