More great timing. Right after our cruise, we flew to Texas for the total solar eclipse. We had a lot of time at the airport as our flight didn't leave until the evening, so we found a table with outlets and sat there to work on our computers.

Ooh, the airport has a Nathan's hot dogs. The ship had these, too; they were very good.

Why would people put their backpacks sideways in the overhead bins? It's going to slow us all down because someone else is going to have to take the time to turn it the other way to fit more bags.

At San Antonio airport.

Nice pictures.

Festive dislay.

I had reserved an AirBnB in Fredericksburg which should be almost exactly in the center of the total eclipse. I had also reserved a hotel in San Antonio as a backup, just in case the AirBnB fell through. Almost all the hotels with larger rooms for more people were sold out when I did it, though, so this was the only really cheap one I could find. I'm glad the AirBnB worked out and we didn't need to use the hotel, because the hotel reviews were quite negative. This one was especially funny.

On the other hand, the AirBnB was really nice.

Billy, Chimka, and Otgonbaatar came over from College Station. They bought lots of food.

Lots of food.

Ogii cooking bacon.

And French toast.

Breakfast.

Neat old building in Fredericksburg: the National Museum of the Pacific War.

There were a bunch of RVs camping for the eclipse.

Scattered around different open areas.

There are many wineries in this area.

A neat one.

Even more castle looking.

Also a little place with yurts.

They look nice.

We drove over to the Exotic Resort Zoo.

And met Melanie, Justin, and Bruce there.

They have lots of animals to feed.

Ogii feeding.

Billy feeding.

Baby goats.

Porcupines.

They had a tractor ride.

That drove through a bunch of animals.

Who all seem interested in eating the food.

Bruce feeding a camel.

Justin.

Sometimes the animals would chase after us to get more food.

We're surrounded.

Another camel.

Selfie time.

That came out good.

I think he might be trying to eat my hair.

Justin feeding.

Petting.

My turn.

More sheep.

Some tiny babies.

Chimka with them.

A very tiny baby behind an adult.

Emu and ostrich.

You don't feed them by hand.

They stick their head in the bucket.

The emu seems interested.

It wants some food, too.

A mouthful of food.

Deer.

Bison.

They have very long tongues.

They just kind of open their mouth...

... and you pour the food in.

While their tongue wriggles all over.

Feed a bit.

Then pet.

Baby emu and baby deer.

Passing some cabins you can stay in.

You have to ration your food bucket.

So you don't run out of food before the end.

Some people ran out, but we had extra, so we gave some of ours to them.

Feed.

And pet.

Antelope.

A cow.

Mel petting it.

Bruce giving it some food.

A pig.

Chimka throwing some food down to it.

It was a very fun ride.

All of us by their sign.

A lemur eating.

Baby kangaroos.

They jump very fast.

There was also a giraffe.

Ogii selfie with it.

Justin, Bruce, and Mel feeding it.
