2024 May 03 | First Friday in Chinatown

We went to First Friday in Chinatown. The Alii Place parking garage is a very cheap garage for downtown / Chinatown.

The Hawaii State Art Museum.

Fountain.

Sculptures looking at each other.

Many vendors inside.

Large artwork.

More vendors.

The courtyard. It looks like a pool, but it isn't.

Upstairs.

Some great juice and desserts.

Artists.

More.

Some of the museum artwork.

This one is neat.

Another artist.

Some optometrists nearby. They got a good phone number.

Some funky shoes in Ross.

The Lei Stand, a cocktail lounge.

Hawaii Theatre.

Upcoming shows.

J. Dolans, an Irish pub with pizza.

Some people hanging outside Proof Social Club.

A line for Art at Marks Garage.

Lots of people inside.

Neat sculptures.

Live music.

Awards show.

Drinks.

Food.

Mural.

Free personality test? Hey, I know what that is. I didn't know there was a Scientology church here.

Book store.

Many shops.

Skull & Crown tiki bar.

Olay's Thai Lao Cuisine.

Neat building.

More shows.

Bar 35 and Tchin Tchin Bar.

Smith's Union Bar.

Which is the oldest bar on the island.

The Downtown Art Center was also open for First Friday. That wasn't on my list; I'm glad we happened to walk by it.

Because they had a ton of art inside.

More over here.

A bag made out of palm sheath fiber.

Handmade paper.

Tea pot.

Interesting.

Neurodegenerative disease.

Fabric.

I like the surfboard with the teeth marks.

Funky clock.

Drawings all the way up the paper tube.

And back to the The Hawaii State Art Museum, which is now lit up.

Grabbing some food there.

Some people playing chess upstairs.

More people in the courtyard.

Now that the band is going.

People dancing to the band.

A video.

Artwork above the parking garage.

More inside.

Dealerships of expensive cars.

I like the purple Lamborghini.

Blaisdell Arena lit up.

Online CE early the next morning. The speakers dressed up as Jedi since it's May fourth.

Looking for more permanent housing. This one was in the middle of the island just outside of Wahiawa.

Nearby lake.

Living room.

Huge patio.

Each room has its own window A/C.

Nice kitchen.

Bedroom.

A second one.

We're near Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield, so I'm guessing this person is in the military.

Huge tree.

Back to Honolulu, north of the airport.

Nice living room.

Kitchen.

Bedroom.

Out on the lanai.

It borders Hoa Aloha Neighborhood Park.

A rainbow.

Checking out another unit in the same building.

This one needs a lot of work.

Another apartment complex nearby.

Living room and kitchen.

ALl of the bedrooms are upstairs.

One.

Two.

Not much of a view.

One Waterfront towers.

Norwegian Pride of America cruise ship.

More skyscrapers.

Park Lane Ala Moana, right at the mall. Huge balconies, huge price tags.

Huge tree at Ala Moana park.

Checking out Gelato & Chill near our place.

Lots of choices.

We bought some stainless steel skillets at Target. They worked great on the induction stove top. Walmart didn't have stainless steel ones, only aluminum.

Many of the balconies at Waipuna had lights.

A video of some of them.

The entire building.
