2024 May 08 | looking for condos, thrift shops
Looking at more units. This is another one in Kapiolani Manor near Ala Moana.
Two sinks in the bathroom.
Nice view.
The appliances are a bit old.
This one near the university was on Zillow. Very large 2/2.
Huge wraparound balcony with great views.
Very nice inside.
Huge windows. Although they never replied to my message, so either they already found someone or it was a fake ad.
Monte Vista in the southern part of Waikiki by the canal.
Lobby.
We looked at it along with some women who were going to college.
Nice view to the south.
And of the canal to the east.
West.
One bedroom.
Bathroom.
Air conditioning.
A tennis court on the roof of a nearby building.
That person has a tent on their balcony. I wonder if they're renting it out?
No right turn, even though there's a lane in that direction, because the lane is only for buses.
Sunset Towers, on the north side of the canal near the yacht club.
The living room is huge because they enclosed the lanai.
You can see the pool.
Central air and heating; this is the first place we've seen with that.
Bedroom. We like the laminate flooring.
Closets and washer and dryer.
Two sinks in the bathroom.
All updated appliances in the kitchen.
Tennis court.
Humongous patio with multiple grills.
A view of the harbor.
Pool area.
Outdoor kitchen. This one was very updated with nice amenities, but because the unit was low, the view wasn't very good.
I'm a little worried about sitting on the lanai at our AirBnB because the chairs are plastic and a bit wobbly.
Especially because the floor is broken around where the railing goes into it, although it's solid at the walls.
Clouds above the mountains.
Looking straight down at the pool.
A little bird on our lanai.
Sunset.
Clouds in reflected in Waikiki Landmark.
We drove up to MÄkaha valley to stay in the condos of Ogii's relative for a few nights to check them out.
However, security at the gate didn't have our info, so they wouldn't let us in. I guess we should have called first to confirm; it's an hour drive there and an hour drive back late at night.
ABC Superette.
To buy some reef-safe sunscreen.
One Waterfront Tower is one of the expensive skyscrapers.
The upper units have huge curved windows.
YOu can watch the cruise ships dock.
And everything is very nice inside. One unit was for rent for only $2,500 per month until mid-October as they were doing some construction on it. We thought it'd be cool to be in one of the expensive buildings for a few months, but someone else rented it before we could even go look at it.
Another bird on our lanai.
Flying away.
The ant bait worked well; there are no more ants.
This intersection can get a bit busy.
$3 per hour to park in Waikiki from 6am to 10pm.
Checking out another place in Waikiki by the canal.
Many people get around Waikiki with scooters, and they have plenty of parking for that.
Along with a gated garage.
Nice view of the ocean walking to the unit.
Inside.
Guest bedroom.
Master bedroom.
The owner is Japanese, so they have a bidet.
Living room.
They're using this little nook for their dining table, but Ogii could use it to work.
The lanai is big enough to fit a table and four chairs on it.
View of the mountains from the lanai.
Looking south.
And north.
It's right on the canal across from the community garden.
The kitchen is quite open as well, with windows on two sides.
There are windows by the elevators, too.
Which let you see north. This is the only place we've seen with almost 360 views from our floor.
We also looked at a lower unit, but the buildings to west block most of the view of the ocean.
This unit also have a different layout.
With the kitchen on the other side.
Living room.
Smaller lanai.
Still a nice view of the mountains, although again, the other buildings get in the way more.
They also need to clean this one.
Pool.
Covered patio area.
Grills.
Lobby.
Dinner at Kan Sushi.
They seat everyone by the windows. It might be a nicer view, but it also makes the place look busier.
A little bird flew in.
He found some food.
Edamame for an appetizer.
Sushi.
For Ogii.
Bibimbap and pork belly.
Which I cooked for both of us.
Also a wagyu steak.
Which cooks fast on a very hot stone.
Ready to eat.
Many people walking by, a few with surfboards.
Shopping at Harbors Vintage.
Clothing.
Videogames.
Events.
Upstairs are a bunch of smaller rooms.
Each with their own shop.
Mostly clothing.
Pink.
Many pictures.
We also stopped at Plato's Closet.
Funky shoes.
Bird mural.
On the way in to Goodwill.
Some furniture.
And other household goods.
Lots of clothing.
Pretty cheap.
Checking out another condo, One Archer Lane.
Indoor area by the pool.
Pool.
Little gazebos.
Only a few units per floor which surround the elevators.
Living room.
Open kitchen.
Balcony.
View to the north. This building is right by Straub Medical Center, so a lot of doctors and nurses and other medical staff seem to live here.
