2024 May 16 | getting USPS boxes, thrift store shopping, Transformers 40th Anniversary show
Ogii cooking dinner.
She's a bit cold, so she has a blanket; I'm a bit warm, so I took my shirt off.
Bird on the balcony.
We shopped at ABC twice.
We spent $96.41. Now, is it worth walking to one and spending $5 to get a 50-cent bag?
General weather predictions are worthless. It's always 80 and rainy.
You really need to watch the radar and see what's coming in the next few hours.
T-Mobile has discounts which come out on Tuesday.
However, most of them are only small discounts on stuff we wouldn't buy anyway.
Like the Dining Advantage.
You don't end up with something for free, just a discount on it.
They have larger discounts for more expensive activities, but those are often all running their own discounts, which might be even better.
The only that is consistent is the free breadsticks when you buy a pizza at Little Caesars. Again, though, is it worth saving $4 to drive all the way there and back?
First Porsche, now Lamborghini is making an SUV? That's embarassing. Although for $250,000, the Urus can go 190mph. Good luck getting up to that speed anywhere in Hawaii, though.
Even the highways in town only go up to 45mph, with a few miles outside of town getting up to 60mph.
Checking out the baby monk seal again. This time we could actually go onto the beach.
And swim over here.
Although this person was keeping everyone a safe distance away from the seal.
You could kind of see the baby behind the mother from here.
Mural of a woman.
Animals.
Animals looking at a fish hook.
A fair amount of traffic in the other direction as we drive to the USPS at the airport...
... to pick up most of our boxes. This woman remembered me from last time.
A few had come in earlier and we were still waiting on a few.
They all just fit into the Prius.
Public Storage has an app which will open the gate when you're close enough so you don't have to type in your code every time.
They also have lots of carts you can use for free.
We wanted only a few things out of the boxes for now.
The first was my big zoom lens for my DSLR. We found that on the first box we opened.
And the other was my bathroom bag. We found that in the second box. Great luck; we don't have to open all of the others yet.
We'll store them here until we find a more permanent place to live.
Rock wall art.
Skinny skyscraper.
Neat balconies.
All-you-can-eat buffet restaurant by a strip club.
Pig hunter.
We saw this store with neat lights.
Inside.
Lamps.
Small pieces.
I like the pineapple lamps.
We don't need anything and don't have space for anything, but good to know what they have if we ever do.
Two shades of blue.
We had dinner at Helena's Hawaiian Foods.
Lots of awards.
More here.
Newspaper articles.
The food was great, but the portions were small.
We were still hungry afterwards, but right across the street was a Mexican restaurant.
People online had said there weren't any good Mexicant restaurants here because they can't get the right ingredients, and at least at this place, that seemed correct; the food was terrible.
Gray church.
Tree with constellations.
Asian building.
There are a lot of homeless tents around this area.
Near the Salvation Army.
There's an auction every Friday morning.
Lots of clothes.
Shiny purse.
Many guys wear cargo shorts here.
Some expensive shoes, priced at $100. The red ones were too small and the white ones were too big, though.
We got tickets to the Transformers 40th anniversary event.
Free banana popcorn samples at the theater.
A DDR game.
A Zoltar machine.
Ads for Transformers toys.
They're showing the first TV show. Maybe they're doing that in place of regular previews?
They got the original voice actors back to re-read the show.
They were all together and shared stories; lots of laughs.
Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.
Then they showed episode two of the TV show.
And episode three.
Wait a second; I thought this was going to be the 80s movie? Although I guess that came out in 1986, so we're two years early.
Quick Googling, and yep, this is only for the first few TV shows.
And not the movie, which is what I thought it was for.
That's fine, though; when we got home, we could watch the moving online.
I liked all of the original Transformers and hated all of the new ones.
A lot of kids cried when they killed Optimus Prime so they could make different toys.
Even when it's pouring rain outside, the covered open area stays dry.
And the guy with his computer is still out there. Looks like he does stocks or some kind of investing.
The elevator at our place has two different voices, a man and the woman. One weird thing is they say "lobby floor" instead of only "lobby," and another is that the woman says "lobby" like "labby."
