2024 May 25 | Waikiki beach, Royal Hawaiian Center
Pretty clouds before sunrise.
Pink edges.
Another unit in our building which is for sale. I like the tiled balcony...
... and bathroom walls.
Our pool.
From the other side. An outdoor shower to the right.
BBQ area.
Covered lounge.
Sauna.
Bathroom by the pool. Good to have as a backup if ours isn't working.
The building next door put spikes above their windows to deter birds, but this family just made their nest in them. A little baby hopped out and flew down.
We can see multiple other pools from our place. This one is long and skinny.
This cross-shaped one always has many people in it.
This oval one rarely does.
And this bean-shaped one never does.
Although this pool is my favorite because it looks like an oasis with the palm trees.
Beautiful view of the ocean. I love the different shades of blue, especially with the pink Royal Hawaiian.
This tree has very long above-ground roots.
Chicken with her babies.
Fort Derussy Beach has almost nobody on it.
Monkeypod Kitchen is right on the beach.
It's quite busy.
The beach here is still empty.
Some big pipes.
You can walk over them.
Just time it right so you don't get soaked by the waves.
The walk along this skinny piece of concrete, Halekulani Boardwalk.
At least there are some stairs if you fall in.
House Without A Key, another restaurant with an oceanfront view.
Setting up for some event.
Another small beach with almost nobody on it.
The Sheraton Boardwalk is closed.
Can we go around it to the oceanside?
Probably not safely.
So we'll walk through the resort instead. They had some faucets we could clean our shoes off with.
Live music at The Edge of Waikiki.
Infinity pool at the Sheraton.
The hotel is tall and curved.
Cabanas.
Peyronie’s Point, with a concrete barrier.
Now we're on Waikiki Beach.
Which has way more people than the beaches just a bit farther north.
Walking back into the city through Waikiki Surf Alley.
Lots of sand on our sandals.
An ad for a Cirque du Soleil show in Hawaii.
A bench at the Royal Hawaiian Center, a large, somewhat-open mall.
A map.
Shaka.
The courtyard of the Royal Hawaiian hotel.
The center has ukulele classes.
And lei making classes.
Expensive stores.
Open areas for shows.
Statue of Princess Pauahi.
A long line...
... for Stussy.
Food court.
Boba tea.
You can order with cotton candy.
Me.
Us.
Although drinking the tea through the cotton candy will get your nose sticky.
A bakery.
Cute cake.
And cupcakes.
Nicer restaurants on the next section.
Another.
And another.
The mall isn't too high.
Rock a Hula show.
They had some cutouts.
For both of us.
Another cutout.
Good view of the streets below.
And of the skyscrapers above.
A nice open area with nobody around.
Down some escalators.
Dolphins mural.
This yota is too tall to fit in the parking garage.
A silver dragon painted on a black truck.
Even a dragon hood ornament.
Flower gate.
Shopping at Target at Ala Moana Center. I'm not paying $100 for a juicer.
The $20 one is what I'm looking for.
Mirrors.
Again, we're avoiding the $100 ones and getting the $7 one.
Live music.
Shaka sign.
Aloha sign.
Japanese grocery store.
Ross.
Lots of cutting boards.
Fun sign and plants.
Eco-Town Select has some of the brand of shoes I have, and even the same style.
