2024 May 27 | Nichiren Sect Mission Buddhist temple, Waikiki Shopping Plaza
Our new condo has a very nice bidet.
The water around the island can get bad after a lot of rain.
I wonder if it's really wastewater?
Sunrise.
Breakfast.
Mural.
We went to the Nichiren Sect Mission Buddhist temple to meet Ogii's previous coworker from LA and her husband, who is the minister there.
He gave Ogii a book on Buddhism for children that he translated.
Then Ogii gave him some slippers from Mongolia.
And her a purse from Mongolia.
The four of us.
A lifted Mazda Miata.
Mural.
I like the happy shave ice cone in the front of the store.
Shopping at thrift store.
Mosaic.

Save mural.
Mural along a school.
Chicken with a hat.
Animals and flowers.
Fire phoenix.
Long, straight road.
Shaka bike racks.
Rainbow bus stop.
Diamond Head.
Cool Asian house.
The shaka license plates in the newspaper.
She looks happy.
Hey, they halfway cut me out of the picture. I feel like Uncle Buck in the wedding photo where he was folded out of it.
Lunch on the balcony.
A little section of rainbow.
We have to walk up this short incline from our parking spot. It's not far, but this woman has a grocery bag with wheels, which makes it easier.
We looked at around 30 places to move, and a few of them had dishwashers that didn't work. We tried our dishwasher, and it didn't work, so we just assumed it was one of them. However, I noticed this switch, flipped it, and the dishwasher turned on. I'm glad I figured that out before we lived here for months washing dishes by hand.
Installing our Roku.
We liked the Red Oaks show. Especially the Hawaii luau episode.
I wanted to check if the physical newspaper also cut me out of the shaka license plate picture like the online one. Some of the other residents here get the newspaper, but this is the new one which was just dropped off, so it's not the correct paper; I need the one from the day before this one. It's 4am, so maybe if I go out and find a newspaper dispenser, there's a chance I'll find one before they've put in the new ones. They newspaper delivery man was still parked in front of our building, and after I had walked a bit, I thought he might still have one of the previous ones in his truck, but by the time I thought of that, he had already left.
I thought Long's Drug might have one, but nope, they don't have any newspapers.
They do have this company that ships leis, though.
You can't buy alcohol at night.
None of these are newspapers.
Nor is this.
Nor are these. I can't find a newspaper dispenser anywhere. And by now, it's probably too late to find one that still has the previous paper.
Some cops and a dump truck on the walk back home.
I wonder if a car had run into the truck?
The cops helped the dump truck driver clean up the mess.
The sprinklers around here turn on at 4:30am.
Our chess set got broken in the move. We can just set these sections back down in the inset and they're fine.
This balcony has a light-up shaka symbol.
Waikiki Marketplace has a few small shops.
Including a nightclub.
You have to dress up a bit for it, but you can still wear sandals.
There is always a long line for this restaurant.
Mural of a girl catching a fish.
We walked down Dukes Ln.
There are a ton of tourist vendor booths here.
Duke's restaurant is near the end of Duke's Ln.
Waikiki Beach to the north.
To the south.
Ogii in the water.
Long line for the shower to clean the sand off your feet here.
We walked back along Seaside Ave and saw Waikiki Shopping Plaza.
The bottom floor has a bunch of small Asian restaurants.
A map of them.

With a few more restaurants.
A map of famous food markets around Asia.
More of them.
A list of the shops on the five stories of the mall.
A jewelry store on a higher floor.
St. Luke's walk-in clinic.
Tanaka of Tokyo...
... is a restaurant with lots of rewards.
The higher floors had more small stores, including a bridal shop...
... and massage.
Looking down.
More small stores on the upper floors, mostly jewerly...
... and various other shops. There were no other shoppers up here, and most of these places seem to be reservation only.
A nice place to sit and relax if you don't want to be bothered, although I wonder if security would kick you out after a while.
Ross.
Has a huge checkout line right now.
Ogii checking out the clearance section.
Still a long line, so we didn't buy anything.
Pretty colors.
Nice surfboards.
We still had lots of sand on our feet from the beach.
Nordstrom Rack has many aloha shirts.
This one has locations around California.
I knew what all the locations were except this one.
I wonder if the locations are listed online?
After Googling some, I found this.
I knew these two locations.
And these two.
And these two. But the website didn't even list the only location I didn't know! Thankfully Ogii knew it was Coronado Beach in San Diego.
Neat stone welcome mat.
A small restaurant near the canal.
An open house by the owner, as you can tell by the duct tape around the sign.
Living room.
Nice balcony.
The kitchen and another area (which could be turned into a second bedroom) are open to the living room.
Decent kitchen.
Bedroom.
Bathroom.
Half bathroom.
This sign is our anniversary.
Going for massages nearby.
Not too expensive.

Zoomed in more.
Very bright.
