2024 May 29 | libraries, gyms, Blaisdell farmer's market

Color around the clouds at sunrise.

School kids lined up for some game.

Since I couldn't get a newspaper in Waikiki, I went to their offices.

There are multiple buildings at Waterfront Plaza, but they had a map so I could find the newspaper.

Many restaurants there.

A bakery.

People eating.

The Star Advertiser newspaper office.

They had plenty of the edition I wanted.

Aw, even in the physical newspaper picture, they still cut me off.

Versus the picture Ogii took, with me on the right.

We had thought about going to the lantern floating but didn't. Good thing; it was completely packed.

The local library in Waikiki.

Hours.

Entrance.

Inside.

A puzzle over here.

DVDs.

Desks people can sit at.

Magazines, but none I'm interested in.

It's free to get a card.

You can get many other things with it, too.

Checking out some gyms. First was 24 Hour Fitness.

There's an attached parking garage, but you have to pay for it. At least it's fairly inexpensive.

Inside.

Many machines.

More here.

Upstairs.

Treadmills.

Then we visited Planet Fitness.

It's not as busy, and not as many huge hardcore lifters.

I don't like that people don't rotate at the 30-minute workout station, though; they just stay on their machines when they're supposd to move.

Massage.

With chairs.

And also hydromassage. You have to upgrade to the black level to use these. One one hand, you can bring someone with you for free, so that basically cancels out the increased price if you have two people, but on the other, the second free person can't use these massages.

If you let a city bus in front of you, they'll give you a shaka.

And a mahalo.

Probably an Asian's car with all of those 8s on the license plate.

Yota.

Looks like a bunch of nurses on their lunch break near Whole Foods.

This woman was cutting the tops of these bushes to use in leis at the U-Haul parking lot.

The lot has a blue stop sign, which means it's on private property and not a legally-enforced one.

Mural of queen and surfer.

Another yota.

And another.

Blue skyscrapers.

More.

Fixing an electrical pole.

Huge curved balconies.

Cute animal pictures on this tour bus.

Our new office chair we found on Craigslist for $10.

A tattoo in binary.

It spells out "llamas."

I stopped by the University of Hawaii at Manoa to check out the library there.

It's not too expensive to park in this lot, and it's free on weekends.

The library.

Large mural.

Inside.

Many newspapers.

From around the world.

The library has multiple floors.

With many desks to study at.

And many rows of books.

These haven't been organized yet.

Another floor.

More desks.

Another floor.

Tons of newspapers.

Which still need to be sorted.

Asia collection.

In here.

Private study booths.

Cultural collection.

In a hallway between wings.

A phone charging station; that's nice.

The NOAA computer was down.

A map of campus.

Many computers.

Although they're only for educational use.

More phone chargers at the front desk. I couldn't find The Economist magazine, and the staff said they didn't have many magazines.

I searched online, but I don't think these are it.

Although it says it's available online.

The Blaisdell farmer's market.

It's not too big nor small.

Maybe around 20 booths.

Mostly food.

Like pizza.

And pasta.

Although there were a few produce vendors.

Haven't tried some of these yet.

Nor these.

Pies.

A list of them.

Many types of jams.

Some award winners.

More produce.

These look fresh.

We got some dinner and fruit.

And some jam.

Time to eat.

Neat Asian building.

Mural of Olympic champions.
