2024 Jun 04 | golf card, Iolani high school graduation, Royal Cosmetics Co fireworks

The sun just above the mountains and just below the clouds.

A long horizontal beam of light.

Moving downwards.

Further downwards.

Ogii enjoying the sunrise.

While I cook.

All set up for graduation.

We generally leave the balcony door open at least some during the day to stay cool, but the wind blows the bathroom rug around.

A bunch of baby chicks.

This one got separated.

So I took it back to the others.

All together now.

A Cybertruck.

A Library for the Blind and Print Disabled. That's nice to have.

We've thought about getting into golf, and it's much cheaper to play as a resident.

$32 for a resident versus $86 for a non-resident for 18 holes. But residents have to get a golf ID card for the discount.

Rules. No bathing suits, sandals, or bare feet. I'm not sure if that would be a problem elsewhere, but in Hawaii, people definitely would golf like that if it weren't in the rules.

Not too much of a line.

Some huge golf shoes.

I like how the sign instructs you to smile for the camera. I guess if you're out enjoying a nice day of golf, they expect you to be smiling, so the photo on your ID will match.

Ogii getting her picture.

They have an L&L BBQ there for food.

A tournament going on.

I lost the little screw that goes into this kitchen strainer.

I wasn't sure what size it was or if it was English or metric, so I just kept trying different ones until one fit.

The guy in the dark blue was trying to fix something at home but wasn't really sure what he was doing, so the guy in the light blue and the employee were both helping him.

Times Supermarket.

Their deals flyer.

They're pretty good sized.

Bakery items.

Fruit.

Fresh food.

Japanese style white bread is almost the same as our white bread, but it's on sale.

Pineapples.

Fish.

Poke.

Three different types of ketchup. What's most unhealthy: salt, sugar, or non-organic?

The garlic sourdough sounds good.

Super-cheap batteries. I wonder what the quality is like.

You can rent a rug cleaner.

Only $40 for 24 hours; that seems pretty cheap.

Lunch from there.

Checking out the pool.

Lint had built up on the back of the dryer.

So I cleaned it off.

It was also down in the corners, too, which took a little more work to pull out.

I got a lot of it off.

Finally time for graduation.

Ogii had been waiting for this after days of build-up.

All of the seats are full.

Ogii watching while I cook dinner.

Juicing oranges.

Many people on the field after the ceremony.

Many had large signs of their kid's picture.

Many even had lights around the edges.

Ogii checking them out.

I love how just the edges of the clouds light up during sunrise.

Ogii put this stuffed spider around the bed foot so I don't hit it with my foot when I walk by.

Breakfast.

Trying HI Burger for dinner.

Very fresh meat.

Fun art from from cut-up license plates.

The burger was great.

Big rainbow.

Sliver moon.

Holding our Hawaiian language sheet down on the balcony table with my Golden-Gate Bridge bookend.

Angled rainbow.

Ogii's turn to cut up a pineapple.

She cuts out each section one by one.

That got more fruit than my attempt.

Smiley face out of water on the counter.

A huge line for Marugame Udon restaurant.

Cat Cafe at the International Marketplace.

Having the subject stare right at you really grabs your attention.

Free eye exam with rx package.

Light-up Aloha sign.

Us with it.

A Reyn Spooner sale?

Hmm, I don't think that's the official site. Best case is they're official items the company is getting rid of old, excess inventory very cheaply through a third party. Middle case is they're knockoffs. Worst case is it's completely fake. But we can try to buy a few items and see.

Many of the planets lined up.

You can see batteries for sale on Amazon, but if you try to put them in your cart, it says they won't ship them to Hawaii. Probably because they can't send them in airplane cargo.

Neat mural.

With carved info.

Neat tree.

There are two mileages I'm driving towards on the Prius. The first is 123456, which will be neat. The second is 123924, which is what they wrote down on the title. However, the actual mileage was 123424 (they wrote the first "4" as a "9"), so I have to drive it around some before I can sell it; otherwise the new mileage will be lower that the current mileage on the title, which will cause a problem at the DMV. In California, 500 miles would be almost nothing, especially going 80mph on the highways, but on Oahu, where the top speed is 60mph but for only a few miles, and the rest of the speed limit is 45-55, and also where there are no long stretches of highway, it's going to take a while.

Cute logo.

Picking up the RAV4, which finally made it over from Oakland.

Matson's address has 411, our anniversary.

A nice vehicle coming off.

There's Ogii.

She seems happy to have her RAV4 again.

That's a huge burger.

The Royal Cosmetics Co celebrated their 37th Anniversary in Waikiki with fireworks launched in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

We could watch from our balcony.

Hearts.

Out of focus, but artistic.

Big raining ones.

Many at once.

A video.

Some of our neighbors on other floors were watching, too.
