2024 Jun 21 | driving southwest, Fort Derussy Beach Park, Prius detail

Pretty sunrise.

Yota. Don't see many white ones.

Montana.

I drove down to the southwest part of the island to get some more miles on the Prius. There was a truck with a lot of Trump flags there.

The woman I bought my office chair from on Craiglist for $10 was moving and gave me this picture of old maps for free. We don't have room for it, though, so I took it to the Goodwill. They thought it was cool.

Lots of clothes.

Some golf clubs, not in horrible shape, but not great, either.

Water skis.

Expensive for a thrift store.

Stopping at the Costco there.

Eye exams with the optometrist there.

The golf clubs are quite expensive; $500 for a set.

The bags are over $100, too.

Black yota.

We ran into the UPS delivery guy in the elevator. He happened to be delivering our item.

A deck box.

We put most of the owner's random stuff we don't use in it.

A bit over 100 miles to go.

Heading east across the middle of the island. I thought this would be fast as the highway is here.

Except there's a tunnel, and they closed one lane. So much for the going fast idea.

It's so beautiful coming out of the tunnel. You see the ocean in front of you...

... and the mountains behind you.

I like the clouds in them.

Runaway truck ramp.

There's an outlook you can pull into.

With a nice view of the town below to the east.

Looking more to the north.

Full moon.

Another shaka plate.

The arms on my office chair were a little high, so I took them off. Ogii helped make sure the arm didn't fall on me.

We'll see if not having the arms is any better.

This place always has a long line. It didn't when we were walking by now, so we thought we'd try it.

It's a buffet, so you pick whatever you want.

Making the fresh noodles.

Our food.

Very thick noodles.

This place looks good, too; we'll have to try it some other time.

A painted piano.

Pretty sunset.

An airplane.

It looks like a little rain between clouds.

COVID is creeping back here.

There are only a few of the same ads that repeat during our TV shows, so we try to guess which ad will be next. I finally got all four of them.

Pretty pictures on the van.

The Embassy Suites has a surfboard holder.

Fort Derussy Beach Park.

Long roots slowly coming down.

Many people have carved them name into this tree.

Someone even put a lock on it.

A few temporary volleyball nets.

People lying in the grass.

More over here.

A pickleball court.

Open to everyone, although the hotel can reserve it.

A paddle holder to reserve your turn.

Cannons and tanks at the Army Museum.

Cowboys fan.

Fake scratches and bullet holes.

Ogii is very excited...

... about the very large sun rays peeking through the clouds.

Finally got the Prius mileage above what the DMV had written, so now we can sell it.

I took it to get detailed at Auto Perfection so it would be nice and clean for the new owner.

Most of the cars there are much more expensive.

Rainbow mural.

Sunny mural.

The detail shop was close to where the RAV4 was being stored, so I walked over there and drove it until the Prius was done. The other orange SUV is still there keeping the RAV4 company.

$5 Fridays at Safeway.

It's only 10:30am and there's still a long line of people.

The sides are also $5.

I don't like the soda deals because you always need to get three packs. We don't drink that much soda, though, so they take up a lot of space for a long time.

I will buy a couple of packs of Gatorade, though.

Maui style chips on sale.

So is the jerky, but some is only $1 off, while others are $6 off.

Love the chocolate-covered macadamia nuts.

I think you have to use their app to get this coupon.

Safeway sells sandals and snorkel gear, too.

Self checkout is "about" 15 items.

Yota.

I love the water color, from light to dark blue.

Mural that looks 3D.

The garage for Whole Foods only has one available space on this level. I don't think I'm going to drive all around trying to find it, especially as someone else might get it first, or maybe the sensor is broken and the space isn't actually available.

Seven spaces is still pushing it a bit; let's go for the 132 spaces.

Whole Foods is a decent-sized grocery store.

Back to pick up the Prius.

Too bad I can't take the Porshe or Lotus.

Break'n Anger rage room, where you can go and break stuff. Neat idea; I wonder how busy they are.

Long rainbow.

Now double and very bright.

Going all the way around.

Full moon rising by Diamond Head.

Friday night fireworks.
