2024 Jul 05 | selling Prius, 4th of July

I couldn't figure out what these poles with multiple green pancake are for. Turns out they're emergency warning sirens.

Bright gold.

Marriage gift?

Some shops at the Ala Moana Honolulu hotel by the mall.

I had wanted to look at some snorkel masks, but that's closed, even though it's 3pm.

The jewelry store is also closed.

As is this one.

This general store is open.

A gastropub at the end.

Yota.

I wanted to make a copy of the RAV4 key, but the machine at Walmart won't do it. I guess I have to go to a hardware store.

What used to be La Ronde, the US's first revolving restaurant, which opened in 1961 at the Ala Moana Center. It's now offices.

Ogii by a yota.

Octopus mural.

Owl mural.

Dropping off an Amazon return at Whole Foods.

Sweet potato chips.

The ready-to-go food smells so good.

Including the Indian items.

Their bread (chocolate brioche) and cookies are great.

Neat skyscrapers.

A lot of paddlers.

Clouds reflected in the canal.

I was just in Grenada a few months ago for a mission trip. Sad to see it got hit by a hurricane.

An accurate license plate.

Seeing what other high-mileage, five-year-old Priuses go for in Hawaii.

Mine has a bit more mileage, but they're almost all highway miles.

Kelley Blue Book gave me an estimated price range which seemed about right based on what the other cars are selling for.

I tried some car-buying sites. At least on Carvana, they don't cover Hawaii.

KBB said they did, but when I called the dealerships to ask about them buying the Prius, they all said they don't buy cars with over 100,000 miles.

So I put an ad on Facebook Marketplace, had a few people interested, and sold it in a few days. We went to the satellite city hall at the Ala Moana Center to ensure we did everything correctly.

The tap water was all cloudy after they had worked on the pipes.

But then it quickly cleared up. From what I read, it's just air bubbles, which isn't a problem.

A new Beverly Hills cop movie is out on Netflix.

It had a lot of the same actors as the first ones.

Fun seeing them all back together.

The Lil Nas X song which samples Axel F was good, too.

Sunrise.

Color behind the clouds.

The space in the clouds looks like an eagle; perfect for the 4th of July.

Ogii making some food for a potluck at our building.

A US flag.

Olives, cheese, and cocktail weenies.

Another one.

Cooking burgers.

And hot dogs.

A lot of people brought food.

Snacks.

Sides.

More.

Desserts.

Listening to a singer who lives in our building.

She was very good.

A video.

A friend of hers showed up and played percussion on the box he sat on.

Back outside for some more food and talking.

Some games, including tic tac throw.

And cornhole.

My turn.

Back to Ogii.

Pearl Harbor had the closest large fireworks show, but we decided to see what we could see from our place.

There were a few farther out.

In the middle of the city.

Another area.

One right across the canal to the west.

Another to the north.

They shot off a few.

Uh oh, it's still on fire. They dropped it into the canal before it started the dock on fire.

A video of a few of the fireworks.

The dock looks OK in the morning.

A little outdoor pub.

With a beer flight.

This was the other revolving restaurant in Honolulu, the Top of Waikiki, but it closed during COVID and hasn't reopened, although the outdoor patio just below it is a sushi place.

Delta credit card ad.

And another one.

And another one.

A Hawaiian one. I don't think we fly enough on a single airline to make them worth it, though, especially because our Chase card has good travel points.
