2024 Aug 02 | periodontist, Ogii presents, fireworks from Fort DeRussy rock jetty

Someone broke the gate in the garage a few months ago by continuing to drive when it came down on their vehicle, but they're fixing it now.

Hee Hing plaza near the end of the canal has a few shops.

Massage and lawyers.

Kato and Shoji Optometrists.

Where i went for my eye exam.

Waiting area.

Exam room.

Lots of awards.

Including 40 years with the AOA.

And with the military.

Statue of Princess Ka'iulani, only child of Princess Miriam Likelike, and the last heir apparent to the throne of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

Flowers mural.

A food truck.

With a ton of different items.

Volleyball at Queen's Beach.

Engagement photos.

Metal detectors.

A lot of people swimming.

A barrier north of the Waikiki Walkway keeps the large waves out of Kuhio Beach.

If you look in the middle of the barrier where the two guys are sitting, you'll notice the waves hit the barrier on each side of them but not where they are at. In fact, you can see the waves moving away from the barrier instead of towards it there, so it must be a rip current.

If you don't want to get splashed in the face, that's a great place to sit. Just don't fall in towards teh ocean or you're going to have to swim a while to get out of the rip tide.

Almost sunset.

A surfboard explaining the beaches of Waikiki.

A couple watching the sunset from a hammock.

People spinning staffs and balls in the park.

A farmer's market in a mall along Kalakaua Ave?

Not really; just a few vendors.

Mostly selling jewelry.

A few more.

And a few more. No produce, though.

A Glow Putt arcade.

And the mini golf course.

A spam vending machine.

Another mall to the north.

Which claims to have luxury brands.

They have mostly middle to upper class brands, but most aren't very expensive, although there is a Hermes.

Going to the periodontist to check out a pocket by one of my teeth.

He won an award.

Nice waiting area.

He likes to play tennis.

I received the sandals I ordered on eBay.

They're a size ten, which is slightly too big for me, but they still work fine.

Cooking dinner.

All done.

With some sides and dessert.

Cool clouds.

To the other side.

Bright sunset.

Ogii's first birthday present.

An anklet.

In the morning, the lower clouds move to the southwest, but the upper clouds move to the northeast.

And the sun lights up the upper ones while the lower ones stay dark.

Dinner was Slice of Waikiki.

Ogii is peeking at the shop next door while we wait for our food.

Huge slices of pizza and wings.

Present number two.

A dress.

The sun lighting up a ringed edge of clouds.

Ogii throwing milk.

I love how blue the ocean water is in the morning and the shade gradient.

Some event at the school.

Sunset reflecting in a window.

NCL upgrade offers. We put an offer in for a small upgrade, although we bid on the low side, so we probably won't get it.

Present number three.

Earrings.

Sliver moon at sunrise.

A mini with an iridescent wrap.

Salsas at Safeway.

Let's try this one.

Always a line at the $5 discounts.

This guy said something was priced incorrectly while checking out. The clerk had to go back and check the price, and then do something on her phone for quite a while to fix it. But it was only for a few dollars, and a lot of people in line had to wait.

The Bank of Hawaii building is so pretty.

Many stands for drying clothes.

We went to watch the Waikiki Friday night fireworks from Fort DeRussy beach.

The sun is setting.

Stand up paddleboarders headed out.

There is a rock jetty there people can walk out on.

And a concrete pier next to it.

Me looking for a place to sit.

There were a lot of crabs there; don't want to sit on one.

Diamond Head to the south.

Waves coming up on the pier.

They even went all the way across. Not strong enough to knock you into the ocean, but your shoes would get wet.

Colorful sky.

The fireworks are at 8pm, and it's starting to fill up around 7:30pm.

Ogii on her rock.

Stand-up paddleboarder coming in.

A line of boats ready for the fireworks.

The pier is full now, too.

Fireworks.

A few big ones.

Large crowd walking back afterwards.

Some people walked across the road when they weren't supposed to; the cars had to be careful.

There were also a group of bicyclers.

Many with light-up wheels.

And some with speakers for music.

A light-up shaka symbol.
