2024 Aug 16 | oil change, Planet Fitness and Kahala Mall, Third Friday Kaimuki

This license plate cover has a shaka forming the "W" in "Hawaii."

High five.

Yota.

Pretty sunrise with some fat rays pointed upwards.

It's lighting up the side of this airplane.

This post office has a self-service kiosk, but it's rather slow to get through, so we just waited in line instead.

Flower gate.

Dolphins gate.

Planet Fitness.

They have a 30 Minute Circuit. The lights by the ceiling turn green for 60 seconds to exercise, then they turn red for 30 seconds to stop, clean off the equipment, and move onto the next one. I love this idea.

This Planet Fitness is part of the Kahala Mall.

More stores down this way.

Including California Closets, which we used to get many ads for on TV.

A food court.

More stores, including Reyn Spooner.

A map.

And directory.

More open area.

With a couple of birds running around.

More stores down here.

Lenscrafters.

Pretty normal hours.

There are a few stores on an upper level, but they're not normal shopping ones.

A theater.

Shaka plate.

Ohio.

Yota.

I dropped the RAV4 off at Kapahulu auto repair for an oil change and checkup.

I walked back home, and passed this cat cafe on the way.

They're not open yet, but the cats are up.

A bunch of little fish in the canal.

And a big one.

A historical mural...

... which wraps...

... all the way...

...around...

... this little courtyard.

Someone walking back from the golf course along the canal.

There were also some plumeria trees.

Which dropped a lot of flowers.

A little ramp down into the canal.

Guiliani on Seinfeld.

Time to try the axis deer venison from the farmer's market.

Making burgers out of it. They were OK, although I prefer buffalo burgers and even normal beef burgers.

A new flower on our plumeria.

It's still very small.

Some larger ones.

Some tiny baby ones read to start growing.

I thought this was an ad for tinted glasses for ADHD, but it seems it's actually a daily life program instead. Confusing.

I bought some remote temperature sensors and put one in the fridge...

... one in the crisper...

... and one in the freezer to ensure they're keeping a stable temperature.

Picked up the RAV4. They wrote that we don't need another checkup for 8,000 miles.

They also took a picture of one of the employees with the digital camera we leave in the vehicle. That's fun.

Back at Planet Fitness.

Ogii can't do a regular full-length pull-up, but this has a platform to support some of your weight and make it easier.

One annoying thing about the circuit is many people ignore the lights telling you to move and instead stay on the same piece of equipment, even though they write on the board to keep moving.

We go in the afternoon before the place gets really crowded after 5pm so we don't have to deal with that as much. One nice thing about being on California time is we get done with work earlier in the afternoon.

Eating at The Counter nearby.

Some of their specials.

Aw, too bad it's not 80 degrees.

Rain in the valley.

The Kaimuki neighborhood has a Third Friday event every month. However, they don't close the roads and we didn't notice any additional music or art anywhere, so the local businesses don't seem to participate.

There are a lot of restaurants in the area.

With a variety of types.

Music-playing dragon mural.

We went to The Surfing Pig.

for BBQ.

Fun logo.

A light shines it on the sidewalk, too.

A Cybertruck.

Another one, this one with a black paint job.

And another one, white this time.

Watching the Friday night fireworks.
