2024 Sep 15 | Baltic cruise on NCL Dawn, day 1 - boarding, departing

A cruise ship coming in.

This one is unloading vehicles from the back.

Breakfast at the hotel.

A 20-minute walk to the cruise ship.

We each only had two bags, so it was pretty easy.

Passing some party busses on the way.

This one looks fun.

At the cruise terminal.

There was a huge line for general boarding.

But because we were Platinum status, we had not wait at all.

First stop: the buffet for lunch.

Musicians reminding you to wash your hands.

Bacon-wrapped meatloaf.

Desserts.

We saw almost no children boarding.

Guess the weight for the art auction. Ogii won this one time, but the prize wasn't very good.

Checking out the first Freestyle Daily.

To plan our day.

No reserving pool chairs for more than 15 minutes.

Seeing if our room is available.

Not yet.

Back to the pool area to grab some ice cream.

Now we can go in.

Our room.

It has a tub.

And a sliding door to separate the toilet from the rest of the bathroom.

The balcony.

They have to clean and perform maintenance quickly between customers.

We're right behind the bridge.

In our cruise shirts.

The back.

The robes from the room.

Some chocolate-covered strawberries for being Platinum or in a suite.

And we're off!

There are lots of little islands and houses to watch.

Everyone.

A smaller boat.

Boats, houses, and islands.

Where we are on the map.

Neat houses.

Another cruise ship in front of us.

Viking.

Another behind us.

Tall house up on a hill.

They closed the shade to the bridge when it's too bright.

Many houses.

Neat house with multiple small buildings on the boat dock.

Houses on an island.

The ship behind us is getting closer.

The TV had info on the next port.

Port info.

General info.

Places of interest.

A few more.

A realistic map.

And a tourist map.

BBQ beef brisket for dinner.

What I got.

We can watch the islands go by from here.

A couple of families sat near us; this was the most kids I saw the entire cruise.

Sunset.

A little island with a lighthouse.

Nobody played poker tonight.

Moon.

I joined this Facebook group in case they had useful info. It seems many people stayed at a hotel in Stockholm close to the central transit station. That made their public transport to the hotel easier (we would have had to taken another bus or car to from there to our hotel) but made their trip to the port longer, so I don't know which was better.

Some voice message causing a blinking red light on the phone in the middle of the night. Don't need that.
