2024 Nov 16 | Celebrity Solstice SE Asia cruise - day 2 - at sea - exploring the ship

We're up at 3am. Might as well grab some milk from the buffet...

... so Ogii can throw it during the full moon.

A jewelry tracker for the daily free charms.

Celebrity Today.

I don't get the recommended wine and cocktail of the day. They don't seem to be related to anything today, just picked randomly.

Celebrity has a few evening chic days, all of the sea days on this cruise, where you can dress up a bit more. We're not into that on this cruise, though; our goal was to bring as little extra clothing as possible.

Complimentary drinks in the casino for players. Although you might lose more money than if you had just bought the drinks.

Activities by time.

Opening hours.

Ogii is very excited to find that the ceiling is magnetic, so she can put hooks up there.

We can both be on our laptops in the cabin.

Breakfast on the back deck.

The time to tour around the entire ship. We'll start at the back of deck 15, which has the Sunset Bar and a few tables with chairs.

A small area with a putting green.

With clubs and balls.

Then there is an open lawn area.

With these neat cabanas on each side.

And the Hot Glass Class. There's also a movie screen behind us where people can sit on the lawn and watch.

A foot washing station.

Photography studio.

Mid-ship elevators. There are none at the back; only here and at the front.

A tall open space you can look into from the glass-lined elevators.

Indoors table tennis.

A basketball court at the front.

Looking down to the helicopter pad. Behind this area is the kids' section.

Walking up to deck 16, which is only a small area at the front.

All of the chairs are currently tied down.

Then down to deck 14.

Which has these two seats sectioned off by this wavy metal wall.

And the Sky Observation lounge at the front.

Many large chairs.

And couches.

A small dance area in the center.

With a DJ booth and many headphones for silent disco.

Off to the side is the conference center, where the poker group is.

A jogging track.

A grill on one side and bar on the other.

Overlooking the outdoor pool.

Behind that is the indoor pool.

And then the Oceanview Cafe, which is the buffet.

Some seating inside.

And a bit outside at the back.

These deck plans were by all of the elevators.

There is also a list of the rooms on each floor inside the elevators.

Now down to deck 12 (they skip 13), which had this hand holding what appears to be the sun.

But not holding anything on the other side.

The outdoor pools are in the middle of the ship. Only staterooms are in the back of this deck.

Four hot tubs.

And a bar.

Some couches.

And a big hanging seat.

The indoor pool area.

Nobody is here yet.

The little Spa Cafe, which has a few breakfast and lunch items.

In the front is the spa.

A hair salon.

Heated tile lounge chairs.

Aromatic suite.

A sauna. They also have a steam room. Nice, but expensive.

An IV lounge.

I wonder how trained the person starting the IV is at it?

In front of the spa is the fitness center.

Many free weights.

The next few decks, 11 to 6, are mostly staterooms, with just a small common area near the rear elevators.

Decks 10 and 11 have the library.

Deck 9 has the card room.

With a few boxes of games.

These are all open to the central atrium with the elevators.

And each set of stairs has distinct art work.

Deck 8 has nothing, deck 7 has Team Earth.

Which is an eco-awareness area.

Deck 6 has the computer lounge.

With a printer.

And Apple products and binoculars for sale.

Deck 5 is when we get out of the staterooms and back to lots of things to do. In the back are all of the paid restaurants.

The entrance to them.

A lounge.

Instruments.

A colorful sculpture.

A heart.

Michael's Club is only for suite passengers.

Murano is French.

Its menu.

Silk Harvest...

... has My Petit Chef, with a video show projected onto the table.

Blu is only for AquaClass.

Nothing I'd particularly want anyway.

But the entrance does has all of these roses in the walls, which is neat.

Tuscan Grill is Italian.

It's menu.

Dining area.

Entrance with wine bottles.

This deck also has long open areas on each side.

Neat artwork in the stairwell.

In the middle of the ship is Sushi on Five.

And Cafe al Bacio.

With a gelateria.

Sitting area.

In front of that are shops.

You can also look down to more shops below.

Many purses.

The art gallery, run by Park West, just like on all of the other cruise ships.

In the front on deck 5 is the theater, although it wasn't open now.

Down to deck 4, where the two-story theater room continues.

Then back to an open area where they sometimes have various events.

Photo gallery.

Another bar.

Neat statues.

Casino on one side.

They only have one poker table.

More open area in the center of the ship.

Wine bar.

With multiple couches and TVs inside.

The Grand Epernay is the main dining room; it's two stories.

Neat artwork in the forward stairwell.

A boat on the ceiling.

Now headed back up on the other side of this deck is the martini bar.

And Crush, which has an ice-topped table.

Don't go in here...

... or the tree with the spiky container might fall on you.

It's hanging in the middle of the atrium, so we avoided that area.

A dance class. Although the tree with the spike at the bottom is above this.

Then down to deck 3. Luminae is another restaurant only for suite passengers.

Its menu.

Guest services is here.

As is another bar. In front of this are more staterooms, and then the theater at the very front.

We walked back up to deck 4. On the side opposite the casino are more shops.

Necklaces.

Effy has Ogii's dolphin ring.

Effy has lots of snake stuff.

As well as panther.

They also have the free charms every day.

So gotta grab those.

Ogii found a tiny duck.

on the deck plan.

Now we're at the cheaper shops.

This is more our area.

Especially the $10 sale, which they had at the beginning of the cruise, unlike NCL, which has it at the end.

The convenience store didn't have too much.

A bit of candy, some necessities.

Some more.

And some more.

Quasar is a cool lounge near the front of the ship.

Back to Effy for the raffle.

And then to the Sky Observation Lounge for a Captain's Club event. Even though we've never been on Celebrity, we're the first tier of status with them because we had one cruise on Royal Caribbean, and they share points.

Free drinks.

Yes, please.

An acrobat.

Speaking with some of the officers, including the financial controller.

Many people lounging in the sun.

And in the pool. There were very few children on this cruise; it was mostly older people.

Live music.

A ship to one side.

And a Chinese warship on the other.

There are a ton of small floats in the water. I wonder if they are boundary markers or something?

The buffet desserts were mostly Jell-o things, like on recent NCL cruises.

They had rambutan today, and people grabbed a ton.

Checking out the art auction.

This sculpture of a dragon licking a cupcake is neat.

As is this giraffe.

They both have a ton of small details.

And even little extras added on.

Stock market sculpture.

American sculpture.

A painting by Ashton Howard. There aren't many waterfalls that empty into the ocean, but this seems most likely to be Strawberry Bay Falls in Washington.

A cute baby wolf.

We're only here for the free champagne, which they ran out of right before us.

Good thing they had more.

A few people bid on a few pieces.

A movie playing on the lawn.

And people making hot glass.

You have to sign up for it in advance.

Fresh pizzas in the buffet.

Pasta.

Chocolate sculpture of an eagle.

And a dragon.

Ice cream. I really want some cherry brandy.

But the line is quite long. I'll come back another day.

The elevators don't all go to the same floors.

Only the central two go from 2 to 15.

The left one only goes from 4 to 14.

And the right one goes from 3 to 14. So side elevators don't go as far. Only by a deck or two, though, so if you get on the wrong one, you can walk up or down a deck.

The pool at night.

Roasted pork leg in the buffet.

Jamaican jerk chicken.

Roasted prime rib.

A variety of cheeses.

Mostly Jello-y desserts.

A few better ones here.

The evening show in the theater was Broken Strings, but before it started, the cruise director spoke a bit.

As captain Theo from Greece.

The show was pretty good.

Live music out in the atrium.

The up to the conference center for poker. Since this was the first night we could play, it was packed.

They had $1/$3 and $2/$5 no-limit hold'em, $3/$6 limit, and $4/$8 Omaha 8.

This woman had quad 7s in one of the first hands. I'm glad I wasn't in this hand.

They had some small sandwhiches and snacks in the room, which was nice.

The tournament started at 9pm, which is about when we planned on going to bed, especially as we had to be up early the next day to go ashore, so we didn't play in that.

A lot of people waiting to play cash games now.

The casino only had one poker table, so it was full every night. Those have much worse rake, but almost much worse players. Maybe we should try playing there some night? Although then we're taking two seats away from other people who want to play there but can't play in the conference room.

Axe throwing.

And karaoke.

The next day's Celebrity Today.

I wonder how many people actually stay on the ship to do these activities?

Info on arriving tomorrow.

This page isn't very useful, mostly just ads.

Events by hour.

Opening hours.
