2024 Nov 19 | SE Asia cruise - day 5 - Danang, Vietnam - Ba Na Hills (Cable Cars, Golden Bridge)

Arriving at Danang, Vietnam.

A little lighthouse.

The waves were so big during the night, many of the dishes in the buffet fell down and broke.

The buffet is packed; we often can't find seating during breakfast.

Today there was some space on the back of the ship.

It looks like inspection officers are meeting with ship people.

Many buses waiting.

Ours had a big banner.

Some cows on the way.

More of them.

Water buffalo.

Lots of water.

More cows.

Karaoke and massage, but why do they have the name Google Sing?

It was raining on and off. If it poured, many of the people on scooters would stop and hide under a building, but if it was light, they'd just put on a poncho.

Fishing boats.

Oyster farms.

A waterfall.

Through a tunnel.

A smaller waterfall.

It's very green here.

Across the huge Song Cu De river.

A fisherman in a tiny boat.

Modern building.

Nice gate.

We had a tour guide, a bus driver, and another helper.

More scooters than cars.

Some cows on the edge of the road.

Our driver went around them before they walked across and blocked our way.

Cleaning the highway median.

And the roadside.

A tiny cafe under a bridge.

The cable cars at Sun World Ba Na Hills.

The entrance area from the parking lot.

Sun Gate.

Zodiac statues along a bridge.

Cannons.

You take the cable cars up to the other areas.

Our group is quite large, so I don't know if we can all stay together.

Down a long hallway.

By some water buffalo statues.

And tons of koi.

Our tour guide bought us all tickets.

We got some free beer coupons.

Neat ceiling decorations.

The cable cars.

Lanterns on the ceiling.

Going up.

Us.

Our car companions.

The car had sickness bags.

Thac An Binh Waterfall.

Beautiful view.

It's starting to get cloudy up here.

Can't see very far now.

At the second section.

Which has the Golden Bridge.

There are two giant hands holding it, although with the clouds, we could only see one at a time.

It was windy and rainy, too.

Good thing we brought our rain jackets. Some people were only wearing t-shirts, so they were pretty cold. We had a couple of extra ponchos we gave to people.

It's pretty crowded, but the people moved along fairly well.

Closer to the hand.

And the other one.

Still can't see both hands at once.

A small area with other body parts.

An arm.

A foot.

A head.

Ogii picking another head's nose.

A walkway with a stained-glass roof.

Happy pig.

Entrance to Le Jardin D'amour.

Flowers.

A leaf-covered monkey statute.

Roasted chestnuts. I bought some and shared them with our group. Then we all split up to wander around on our own before meeting back here again.

A garden with a ballerina in the center.

Ogii with the ballerina.

And some statues of kids.

Marble statues of women...

... half-hidden in the edges.

A giant chess set.

More flowers.

Something big over there.

Another area of the garden.

From behind and above.

A giant peacock.

The Journey to the West story from China is very popular all around Asia. There are four characters: the Monkey King, Tang Sanzang (a Buddhist monk who often rides on the White Dragon Horse), Zhu Bajie (part pig), and Sha Wujing (kind of a troll).

Dragon carving.

Buddha statue.

Inside.

More dragons.

To a shrine.

Chua Linh Ung temple.

Down more stairs.

The front of the temple.

Carvings on the side.

Inside.

Ogii lighting incense.

A huge gate.

Dragons along the side.

A side area.

Patio with a nice view when it's not raining.

Sculptures along the sides.

Chairs out of tires.

We didn't have time to visit everything. There is also a castle and an amusement park with an alpine coaster.

Half of the cable cars were closed today.

We had started at the parking lot in the bottom-right, went to the middle-left (B2) for the bridge with the hands, and then up to B1 and A for the later stuff. I don't think anybody else in our group got down to the Buddhist temple, as it was a lot of stairs and we moved very quickly, so it's good we saw that.

What the hands look like when it's not raining.

A funicular.

One of the dealers wore a neon flower headband and helped get everyone together.

A small shop.

Pretty walls.

And ceiling.

Then time for lunch at the Four Seasons Buffet.

Unfortunately our beer coupons only work somewhere outside, not here.

There was a ton of food.

Of all different types.

What we picked out.

It was completely packed here.

Although this farther area was almost empty.

Nice ceiling and piano.

A patio with sculptures.

A golden one.

Neat carving and paintings.

Some more vendor booths.

Back down the cable cars.

Looking back.

Giant sculptures in the hillside.

Rivers below.

Down the hallway by the pond.

I like the wall with holes.

Across the bridge with the zodiac signs again.

Ogii with tiger.

Me with monkey.

And back at the Sun Gate. We managed to gather everyone in our group on time and get back on the bus.

Kids riding home from school.

I wonder why he took off his sandals.

More cows.

Goats.

Vendors by the side of the road.

Collecting wood.

Even more cows.

There were multiple vendors at the dock.

Ogii shopping a bit.

Then back to the ship.

Nobody out today with the rain.

We haven't eaten here yet.

And I'm in the mood for a hamburger, hot dog, and fries.

They cook them fresh.

Then sitting on our balcony and people watching the port.

A giant month flew into our room, so I had to shoo it out.

Checking out the buffet.

To grab some dessert.
