2024 Nov 20 | SE Asia cruise - day 6 - at sea - poker, door decorations, Hot Glass Class
There's nothing open for breakfast at 5am.
It's not even open at 6am; not until 7am. I thought most other cruise lines had earlier options. There's also not much open in the late afternoon, only Mast Grill.
Also very limited late night options; after 10pm, only pizza and stuff in the buffet, and even that is only until 1am.
Celebrity Today.
Nothing too interesting. Maybe archery and darts.
Nothing useful.
Also not much.
Events by time.
Opening hours.
Our potential plan for the day.
You're supposed to dress up a bit when going to the main dining room, and since we're going there for breakfast, we did. Also, we're mostly going to be inside the ship today, and even though it's nice and warm outside, it's a bit cool for a t-shirt and shorts inside.
It wasn't too busy.
The menu.
Fruit.
Charcuterie plate.
Omelette and sides.
The ceiling of Quasar is cool, so we got a selfie there. Except Ogii's head is much closer to the camera, so it looks huge.
Hey, no fair, now she's putting her head far behind mine.
Let's be fair and be an equal distance.
Our poker room opens at 9am, and a few people are ready to play.
There is also a tournament.
I'll try that.
Our dealer had beautiful nails.
As did another player.
Around 1pm, there's a ton of people playing cash.
I got knocked out of the tournament, so that's what I did, too.
Ogii brought me some snacks.
The single poker table in the casino was full, too, along with a few observers.
Cool beaded purses by Mary Frances.
After poker, I walked around the shiplooking at door decorations on passenger cabins and artwork in the stairwells. I think this photo of tulips in The Netherlands by Wout Berger is my favorite picture on the ship.
A mirror and some small flower magnets.
Most people had magnetic stickers.
A few of them.
Simple.
Magnets from all of their previous cruises and locations.
A kid's drawing.
More magnetic stickers.
I like the photo of the woman looking at the glacier in Denmark by by Astrid Kruse Jensen.
An interesting picture of a set by Even Sussman.
Berries and leaves in water by Nils-Udo.
Drinks.
This was my favorite; a ton of butterflies.
Polyester boats by Paul Cox.
Marble, labrador, and aluminum by Terje Roalkvam.
A colorful one.
Many magnetics.
Another set.
Fused glass threads to make a vase by Toots Zynsky.
A printed banner.
Zhu Zhu portrait by Roland Fischer.
Did they turn their pineapple upside down or did someone else?
Fragments of a pool, synthetic resin, by Ai Fujiyoshi.
Porthole images.
A woman with an underwater pillars by Maura Biava.
Neat shot of a sand dune.
Piece of a giant head.
There's rain on our balcony window; it must have been quite windy to do that.
It's mostly cleared up now; just a few sprinkles. There's also a movie playin on the lawn.
The Joy Luck Club.
We can't really watch that, though, as it's time for our Hot Glass Class.
The different colors you can pick from.
And the different shapes. Each is around $200 to make.
Ogii getting started.
By putting glass onto the end of a stick.
And then rotating that in the oven.
Which is very hot.
Then out again...
... to get some more glass...
... and back in the oven.
Smoothing it with a wooden shaper.
Blowing air into it to shape it.
Flattening the bottom.
Adding a temporary holding piece onto the bottom so they can shape the top.
Now my turn.
Adding glass.
Heating it.
Blowing it up.
Now it actually looks like a bowl.
Adding pieces to be the head and limbs.
Shaping them.
With my tools.
Knocking off the holding piece.
Flattening the bottom.
With the huge gloves for holding the heated glass.
A video of Ogii making her vase and me making my sea turtle bowl.
Roasted pork leg at the buffet.
Salmon coulibiac.
Creme brulee. But there's no sugar on top?
Ah, you pick your base, then they add the sugar.
Our choices.
The outside decks were closed due to heavy weather.
The evening entertainment was James Cielen, magician.
He had a camera above his hands.
So you could see what he was doing.
Tomorrow is our last stop in Vietman.
We'll be off the ship for all of this.
I guess the port address and agent might be useful if you got lost or didn't make it back in time.
The internet gets cheaper each day as you pay for less time.
