2025 Jun 01 | Pololu Valley hike

We can see the cruise ships in the harbor from our place.

Zoomed in.

Zoomed in more.

Behind a palm tree.

I bought some shorts at the thrift store.

And they had money in the pocket.

$7. I might have actually made money on these.

Ogii had gifts for all of them.

Breakfast at an acai place.

With their food.

We drove to the Pololu Valley hike, which is about 1.5 hours north.

A goat on the way.

Some helicopters.

Clouds over the hills.

Octopus mural.

Woman with fish.

The Kohala Town Center is very colorful.

Statue.

We stopped at a little store.

They had a board with many local events and ads.

Parking for the hike is along the road.

It's popular, but there are a few open spots as other people leave.

Entrance to the park.

A view of the cove below.

A little info station.

More info.

Clean your shoes before you head down.

Ariunaa and Ogii.

As you head down you get glipses of the cove below through the trees.

The four women.

Ogii and I.

There were a couple of different routes here.

This was the only sign I saw with a number on it. I wonder what it indicates.

Another view.

Some fruit.

This area was a bit rocky.

A corner.

The water below.

A few trees to walk under at the bottom.

A sign.

Warning signs.

Hills and water inland.

The beach to the northeast.

To the southwest.

Some large waves there.

A simple bench.

A little trail to the north.

Burial sites ahead.

In Hawaiian.

Walking the trail.

A hill at the end.

And cliffs.

Looking south.

Headed back up.

Cleaning our shoes at the top.

One last view.

The drive isn't too bad, although there are a few narrow areas.

Including some one-way bridges.

A mural.

Another one.

Some shops.

Cows.

Back home. A brown gecko here.

Uh oh, one is hiding under the seat cushion.

That's not a safe place to be, little buddy; you don't want to be squished.

There aren't too many Hawaiian restaurants, but this is one.

They also have kava, which tastes like dirt.

We ordered a variety of food.

Gelato afterwards.

People playing volleyball there.

People watching them.

Uh oh, new termites. We'll call them to schedule exterminators again.

Some geckos eating bugs.
