A backpack ventilation frame. That's a good idea; my back always gets sweaty wearing backpacks. I often only use one strap to keep cooler, but if the backpack is heavy, that's more difficult. Although a frame like this would push the center of gravity of the backpack farther away from you, which would make it harder to carry. Plus, you have to also pack the frame, and, since it's hard, it wouldn't be as comfortable to wear.
I found one on Amazon with built-in fans, although then you have to charge the fans (or if they have batteries, that adds weight).
Some of the nicer backpacks have built-in suspended mesh for ventilation, which is probably the best option. Although we don't really hike with backpacks much, so probably not worth buying.
On the plane to Hawaii.

They replaced the bed frame, which had termites, and also the mattress, which was old and lumpy, while we were gone.
