2024 Feb 10 | House of Delegates in Irvine

A deer on the road.

Dr. Hicks invited us to Los Laureles restaurant, which has been here since 1890.

Nice stained glass window.

Lots of antiques inside.

Dining room.

Steak.

Fish.

The blimp only comes up here when there is a big golf tournament.

Bright sunrise.

Another one.

Only the upper cloud is lit up.

A had a little moth hole in my suit coat. I love this coat; it fits perfectly and it matches any of my dress pants. Not to mention I think I got it at a thrift store for only a couple of dollars.

I only have one other suit, so we looked for a new one.

We checked out a couple of stores, but they weren't very nice and they were quite expensive. I guess I'll just stick with my one suit for now.

Rain.

So much Google routed me onto this side road instead of the highway, which was flooded.

The side road had some water on it, but I could get through.

411 miles at 41 mph.

Some cows on my drive south.

To the Irvine Marriott for House of Delegates.

This clock is cool, but too bright.

I'm sure there's a button or setting to turn it off, but throwing an extra pillow on top of it is faster and easier.

A sponsored breakfast.

The main hall.

Parade of society flags.

All of them.

Candi with the president's address.

Reviewing the budget.

This company which sponsors COA has merged multiple times.

Upcoming goals.

Checking out the vendors.

Four trustees running for three positions means we need to vote.

Some of them put out flyers.

Questions and answers.

Awards.

Society of the year.

Optometrist of the year.

A reception in the evening.

With lots of people.

And lots of food.

Seafood on this side.

David Brewer spotted me. Crazy who you run into.

Another breakfast the next morning.

And I have to follow the Mongolian New Year instructions.

Pouring water.

Normally Ogii makes the animal head out of dough, but in this case, I broke it off of a toy.

Into the ground the pig head goes.

Ogii's instructions.

Her dough goat head.

Burying it.

Back to House of Delegates: COA board members.

The new COA board.

I also ran into Dr. Chu from San Francisco.

Passing of the gavel.

All of the past COA presidents in attendance.

New president's speech, Dr. Christopher Gee.

Candi's outgoing presidents gifts.

Voting.

Bob speaking.

The four of us from MBOS.

Can't forget the parking validation.

It would have been $84 without it but was only $12 with it.

Lots of traffic at Grapevine.

Another accident there.

I hope they were OK.

Ogii cooked a great Mongolian New Year dinner.

I found a quarter in my dumpling.
